We led a $2 million government project to transform Elsternwick’s former rifle range site into a café/bar and eatery.
Commuters and the local community now enjoy a buzzing local restaurant and bar on the doorstep of Elsternwick Station.
The project won the national Government Leadership award from the Property Council of Australia in May 2018.
The restaurant Bang Bang at the Rifle Club attracts more people to the busy Glenhuntly Road shopping strip and complements Glen Eira City Council’s redevelopment and upgrade to the adjacent Elsternwick Plaza Park.
The works involved reconstructing the building at the rear of the site, and restoring the iconic red brick building on Glenhuntly Road.
External ramps were installed to improve access for people in wheelchairs and parents with prams, and a large external deck provides outdoor seating neatly integrated with Elsternwick Plaza Park.
A consortium comprising Glenhuntly Rifle Pty Ltd and Six Degrees Architects designed and manages the bar.
They have more than 20 years’ experience in successfully running bars and cafés across Melbourne including Riverland, The Boatbuilders Yard, Pilgrim and The Wye River General Store and Cafe.
Construction finished in October 2016, and Bang Bang at the Rifle Club launched in January 2017.
