We are working in partnership with Regional Development Victoria (RDV) as they lead the project to redevelop the Ballarat Station precinct, which will revitalise and transform the heritage rail area into a commercial and cultural hub.
When the project is complete, the Ballarat Station precinct will be a buzzing, thriving precinct for locals, commuters and visitors to enjoy.
The $25 million government-funded project will include a remediation of the currently disused heritage goods shed, to create an integrated hotel and exhibition/convention centre.
The station precinct will include public open spaces, along with a range of transport-related outcomes in partnership with the private sector.
It will also restore the prominence of the goods shed while attracting a new mix of commercial activities and providing a more efficient, safe and vibrant transport interchange.
The project is funded by the Victorian Government’s Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.
RDV are also working closely with Ballarat City Council and the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) to deliver the project.
Ballarat Station Precinct masterplan
Previously, we partnered with the Victorian government, Public Transport Victoria (PTV), RDV and Ballarat City Council to undertake an urban design masterplan for the Ballarat Station Precinct.
Aligning with the vision of the masterplan, we completed the $1.25 million heritage refurbishment of the station's north building in mid-2014.
