From colt 45s to café latte: Caulfield rifle range is history

23 March 2016

Work to transform and revitalise the former Caulfield City Rifle Club into a new restaurant and bar has begun.

Local Member Philip Dalidakis welcomed the start of the project, which involves reconstructing the building at the rear of the site and restoring the iconic red brick building on Glenhuntly Road.

External ramps will be installed to improve access for people in wheelchairs and parents with prams, and a large external deck will provide outdoor seating neatly integrated with the adjacent Elsternwick Plaza Park.

The $2 million project is being led by Victorian rail asset owner VicTrack on behalf of the Victorian Government.

Construction is expected to be complete by September this year, with the new bar and café to open soon after.

This property project follows and complements the City of Glen Eira’s recent redevelopment and upgrade the adjacent Elsternwick Plaza Park.

“The project will bring more visitors and life to the busy Glenhuntly Road shopping strip, and I’m looking forward to having a meal and drink here later in the year when works are finished.”

Quotes attributable to the Glenhuntly Rifle Pty Ltd Executive Director Richie Ludbrook and Dave Sharry
