VicTrack is working with Bendigo Tramways, the City of Greater Bendigo and Regional Development Victoria on a $10.7 million expansion of Bendigo Tramways.
The expansion will create additional storage space for Bendigo Tramways and includes delivering upgraded workshop equipment to restore heritage rolling stock.
The project will increase the number of trams that Bendigo Tramways can restore, creating more jobs and generating economic activity in central Victoria.
Construction got underway in October 2022.
Community engagement
In June 2021 we asked the community to provide their feedback on the project through an online survey. You can find out what we heard by reading the community engagement report.
Having received detailed feedback from the community in June 2021, we further refined the design and in late 2021 presented our updated design for comment.
In this we sought community input on some of the key features of the site, particularly the design of the new storage facilities, and how to minimise impacts during construction.

The feedback received was taken into account when putting together the detailed development plan and informed the Victorian Government planning approvals process.
