    Nominations must:

    • commemorate a local event, place or a person who is deceased and held in high regard by the community
    • be relevant to the bridge location
    • state a reason why you want to nominate a specific name (up to 250 words)
    • be relevant to the local community, or be an unofficial name used by the local community
    • be no more than three words, one of which must be ‘Bridge'
    • not be an abbreviation or the initials of a person
    • not have a similar name, spelling or pronunciation within 5/15/30* kms of the bridge (*metro/regional/rural – pg 11 of guidelines)
    • not include cardinal directions (north, south, east or west)
    • not be offensive on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexuality or gender.

    What happens after the nominations close?
    First we check whether nominations comply with the Guidelines for Geographic Names. Compliant nominations are then shortlisted by local councils and VicTrack. We then seek in principle approval from the Office of Geographic Names for the shortlisted nominations. Once the nominations are approved, we then ask the public to vote for their preferred bridge name.

    Can I object to any nominations?
    If you wish to object to any of the nominations listed for voting, you must object in writing, giving the reasons for your objection, to customer.service@victrack.com.au by the close of voting.
